Siri is our Climate Ambassador!
The Climate Ambassador programme is a great opportunity to become a leader in your school, campus or community and to promote positive climate actions in a local context.
Siri says: “My main action was delivering talks and presentations related to climate change in schools. It has been a very valuable experience, because I got the opportunity to talk about climate change to young students, who are the future active citizens and on whom the climate change will have the biggest impact. I was very surprised at the level of knowledge that the people already had on the issue, and the attention and engagement that they showed!”

A blog about Environmental Tips
Sarah Rietvelt started a blog on environmental tips and tricks as her personal project. Her background is in Search Engine Optimization (optimization of the websites). She says:
“I’ve always had an interest in the environment, and thanks to this EVS I can learn what it is to work in an environmental organisation. I want to focus my personal project on the provision of small pieces of environmental advice to people, to better understand how the actions of individuals might positively impact on climate change.
This blog aims to give advice to everyone. I’m not an environment professional, just a young woman who wants to share her findings with people in a nice way!“

Change starts with you!
This is a personal project of our volunteer Sasha Peralaika. Sasha likes photography and decided to collect photos of people working with Good Energies Alliance with things they do for the environment.
Sasha says: “This project started in a natural way. I was the person in charge of GEAI’s Instagram page at the time. As I was having conversations with other volunteers in the office about personal choices and impact on the environment, and wanted to reflect it on our page as well. Although it’s not realistic to defeat the climate crisis with only individual choices, – we as individuals can possibly make up to 1/4 of the global impact, – it’s very important to do as much as we can. This way we understand the roots of the problems, the importance and urgency of action. Change starts with you!”

Cool Planet Champion for Co. Leitrim!
During the time of her service our volunteer Francesca Franzetti was nominated Cool Planet Champion for county Leitrim.
Francesca: “I am delighted to be appointed as the Cool Planet Champion for Leitrim! I think this is a fantastic opportunity for me to put myself out there and advocate for something I really care about. Climate science is really complex and can be boring sometimes. There is an awful lot of information out there if you google the keywords climate change. Some of this information can be misleading and untruthful. My role is to provide sound and internationally recognised scientific evidence on this topic”.

ECO-activity Manual
This manual was produced by Andrea and Katsiaryna during their time with us as EVS Volunteers.
As their personal project, they worked with 10 to 12 year olds in the Youth Café Drumshanbo. Their idea was to raise awareness on environmental issues through non-formal education and their method was to take familiar children’s games and to put an environmental slant on them. This was hugely successful and the manual can be used by youth groups and schools nationally.
Why am I Vegan?
As a vegan, Ingrid is asked a fair amount of questions. She decided to explain one more time, in writing, the reasons behind her choice; from an ethical concern to a social and environmental commitment.
Once more, Carina, Daniela, Julie and Mariangela, and local facilitator Lorraine McHugh prepared a Summer Camp, funded by the Leitrim Childcare Committee, this time with a focus only on Ukrainian children staying in the local area. Between the 22nd and 25th of August, the team created a safe space for the kids to contact with their creative side as well as practice their English.

Bottle cap mural with Lough Allen College
The project was initiated by our former director Mary and it was about designing a mural for the Transition Year of the Lough Allen College in Drumkeeran and building it reusing plastic bottle caps together with the class. It was meant as a final project after four volunteers of GEAI held two educational sessions about climate change and water quality.
