September blog

What the current volunteers were up to in September?

The days were even busier than in August. The Youth Participation project started on the 22nd of September and most of the days now are spent thinking or working on the project.

Before that, Chloé was able to finish the brochure of GEAI and have 500 of them printed. During September, the volunteers published 9 instagram posts and 1 blogpost about the Youth Participation project. Here is an example of one of the instagram posts published for the World Rivers Day:

The second Youth Participation session took place on the 29th of September. We started the session with a very high level energizer, followed by a climate change video analysis to let the students have a chance to test their own voice and opinions. In the second part of the session we had a short introduction to climate change and how it affects us and a game of “Disagree/Agree”. Most importantly: most of the students agreed that climate change should be taught more in schools!

The volunteers also spent some time away from Leitrim, for example one of them had to participate in the European Solidarity Corps on-arrival training in Dublin. It was good craic, that’s for sure.

September activities:
  • Trips to Sligo
  • Trip to Connemara
  • Trips to Dublin
  • Brittany Crepe and Cider evening
  • Mural exhibition in Ballinaglera
  • Getting ready for October walking challenge for autistic kids in need of service dogs
