On the 22nd of September the Youth Participation project kicked off with the volunteers and
supervisors of GEAI organising the first session in Drumshanbo for TY students. Thank you to
the Youth Café for hosting us.
During the first session we got to know each other with some presentations by the European
volunteers and employees of GEAI, where they introduced their home countries. Then there
were some fun energizers, like the ninja game, and a quiz about climate change. For example:
is it true that the Arctic has warmed faster than the rest of the world? The answer is yes.

We also found out more about what the students’ expectations are from this year. Some of the
expectations were “to have good craic”, but we were also glad to see that they are interested in
having more knowledge about climate change and how their voices matter.

We are excited about the following sessions, where we will dive deeper into climate action and
helping the students have a voice themselves. Young people are our future, therefore it is
important for us that the students can have some motivation and ideas how to make this world,
country, or even just themselves better.
