The last month of the summer was eventful in GEAI. During the final week of July, a second new volunteer (Linda) arrived and immediately started working with Chloé who has been with the organisation since the end of June. They were busy learning the tricks and the trades of GEAI in addition to getting used to a whole new life in Ireland and trying to fit in some fun activities during the weekends.
What was done in August?
While the new website has been live for a few months, there is still work to be done to guarantee its utmost efficiency and the official launch of the website will take place in September (to go to the main page of the website, click here). The volunteers were learning how to implement SEO, or in other words, how to gain new traffic to the website, how to add keywords and descriptions to the pages and improve google search results. It is important to an NGO to be visible. Another very important task has been to design a new leaflet for Good Energies. This has turned out to be much more difficult than can be imagined! It will be published soon. The new volunteers are also working with social media. New ideas were generated and published, mainly on instagram. They are looking into broadening GEAI’s scope, for example, making a Bluesky or a Mastodon account and building them up from scratch. The days are always busy.
At the end of August, GEAI unfortunately said goodbye to three workers who have finished their time in the organisation – volunteers Martina and Yehor and Development Worker Gaia. GEAI thanks them for their work, wishes them luck with their new endeavours and hopes they will always keep GEAI close to their hearts.
Starting in September, the volunteers will be working on the new Youth Participation project. This follows our previous Youth Participation project (click here). In this project we are working with 20 students to encourage them to get involved in Climate Action and support them in organising an environmental campaign. We in GEAI are very excited about the potential of this project and look forward to a successful campaign.
